Check the paw before you order. Measure across the widest point of the front paw with the pads spread. Up to 5.1 cm fits. Large breeds will not.

Our promise on this one

If your dog will not tolerate it, or their paw does not fit the cup, email us within 30 days and we will refund you. You do not need to send it back spotless and you do not need a reason beyond that. This sits on top of your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which do not expire.

Description

Muddy paws stop at the door. Fill it two thirds with water, press once, lower a paw in, and the soft silicone liner does the rest. Lift out, pat dry, and the mud never reaches your floors.

Why it stays by the door

  • A paw in under a minute. Dirt, mud and grit come off in one short cycle, so a wet walk does not turn into a wet house.
  • Two speeds, both directions. Gentle for a quick rinse after a dry walk, faster and reversing when the paws are properly muddy.
  • 157 soft silicone bristles. Food grade silicone that massages rather than scrubs, so sensitive paws are not irritated.
  • One button. Press once. There is nothing to set up and nothing to learn.
  • Ten days between charges. A 2000 mAh battery, full in about two hours on USB-C, then left alone for a week and a half.
  • Comes apart in seconds. The liner and cup lift out for a rinse, and the liner doubles as a grooming brush at bath time.

Check the size first

The cup is 10 cm across and 16 cm tall, and it fits paw widths up to 5.1 cm. That covers most small and medium dogs. Measure your dog's front paw across the widest point before you order. If your dog is a larger breed, this is not the right product, and we would rather you knew that now than after it arrives.

In the box

One Doorstep Paw Wash, one detachable silicone liner, one lid, one USB-C charging cable. A wall plug is not included.

Looking after it

Use clean water, or water with a little pet foot cleansing foam. Rinse the liner and cup after use and let them air dry. The liner and cup are washable, but the motor housing is not a waterproof appliance, so do not submerge the whole unit.

What dog owners say

Three reviews from our store, picked because each one answers a question people ask before they buy.

sk-pw-tolerance

Our dogs paws are under the listed width and fit without any problem. My dog was nervous at first but the soft bristles helped once we slowed things down. Cup and liner come apart fast for rinsing. Really happy with it.

Our dog tolerates this better than rough towel rubbing. It cleans more evenly than just rubbing the outside of the paw with a towel. Cleaning the unit is simple as long as you only rinse the removable parts. Really happy with it.

AnswersIs it actually better than the towel I already own
sk-pw-step3

Two speeds are useful because not every walk leaves the paws equally dirty. It feels surprisingly gentle considering how much mud it gets off. The controls are simple and easy to manage by the doorway. Gets used after most wet walks.

Before and after

What a contained wash is for

Heavier mud sits down in the fur around the pad and between the toes. Wiping the outside moves it. Water lifts it out.

sk-pw-pawbefore Before

Straight off a wet walk

Mud packed into the fur around the pad and down between the toes.

sk-pw-mechanism The wash

Water does the lifting

The liner turns both ways and the dirt drops into the cup, not onto your floor.

sk-pw-pawafter After

Dry it and let them in

Towel dry at the door, then through to the floor you just cleaned.

These images illustrate the routine the product is built for. They are not a measured performance test and they are not customer photographs.

Watch It Work, Start To Finish

Muddy paw in, clean paw out, before any of it reaches the carpet.

The cup holds water around the paw while the silicone liner turns, in both directions, and 157 soft bristles work around the pad and between the toes. The water lifts the dirt and it drops to the bottom of the cup instead of onto your floor. Two speeds, because not every walk leaves the same mess.

Fill the cup about two thirds with clean water. Press once, lower a paw in for about a minute, lift it out and dry it with the towel you already keep by the door. Next paw. When you are done, tip the water out, lift the silicone liner out and rinse both under the tap, then wipe the body dry. Never put the whole cup under water.

While your dog is still standing on the mat, the mess is on four paws and still outside. Once they are past you it is the hallway, the rug and the back seat. Washing at the threshold is what keeps it in one place.

Take the first week slowly. Run it empty near them and let them walk away if they want. Then water only, gentle speed, one front paw, a few seconds, and stop even if nothing got clean. Most dogs settle after two or three short goes. If yours will not have it, email us inside 30 days and we will refund you.

The routine

Wash. Dry. Inside.

Three steps at the door. The towel you already own finishes the job.

Dry and go

Lift the paw out, dry it with the towel by the door, let them through. Tip the water out and rinse the liner.

Your towel still dries. Sidekick does the washing.

You already own a towel. It is free, silent, fits any paw, and is still the only thing that dries one. We are not replacing it. We are adding a step in front of it, for the days it just moves the mud around.

Wash first, then towel

One pass, dry, and they are inside.

  • Water lifts the mud instead of smearing it along the coat
  • Bristles reach around the pad and between the toes
  • One pass on the days wiping takes four
  • The dirt ends up in a cup you tip out, not a towel you wash
  • One hand stays free to hold the paw steady
Towel alone

Wipe. Wipe again. Then wash the towel.

  • Free, silent, and already by the door
  • Fits any paw, any breed, any size
  • Still the only thing that actually dries a paw
  • Enough on its own after a dry walk
  • On caked mud, the same paw takes several passes

Sidekick washes. The towel dries. The dog goes inside.

sk-pw-problem

Why a wash step exists at all

Four paws come in wet. Ten minutes later it is the hallway, the rug and the back seat.

Wiping the outside of a caked paw moves the mud. It does not take it away. Water does, and that is the whole reason this one stands by the door instead of living in the bathroom.

The details

How it actually works

What is inside the cup, what the one button does, and what it needs from you.

157 soft food grade silicone bristles, gentle on sensitive paws

The part that does the work

Food grade silicone, soft enough for sensitive paws and long enough to reach around the pad and between the toes.

Two speeds and both directions: gentle for a quick rinse, faster for real mud

Two speeds, both directions

Gentle after a dry walk, faster after a wet week. It turns each way, so the paw gets worked from both sides.

One button, that is the whole thing: a thumb pressing the single power button

Nothing to set up at the door

Press to start, press again to change the speed, press to stop. That is the entire set of controls.

Comes apart and rinses clean: lid, silicone liner and cup. The liner doubles as a bath brush

The full detail

Everything else, in four rows

How to use it

Fill the cup about two thirds with clean water. Press once, lower a paw in, hold it there for about a minute, then lift it out and dry it with the towel you keep by the door. Next paw.

When all four are done, tip the water out outside. A little pet foot cleansing foam helps on the properly muddy days. Nothing thick, and nothing made for human skin.

Cleaning and maintenance

Fill two thirds with clean water. A little pet foot cleansing foam is fine if the paws are properly muddy, but nothing thick and nothing oily. After use, empty the cup, lift the silicone liner out and rinse it, then wipe the body. Never submerge the whole unit or hold it under a running tap. Charge with the supplied USB-C cable, about two hours from flat. A wall plug is not included. Keep the cable out of reach of pets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my dog's paw actually fit?

It fits paw widths up to 5.1 cm, which covers most small and medium dogs. The cup is 10 cm across the outside, so the opening is a little narrower again. Measure your dog's front paw across the widest point before you order. Large breeds will not fit. If it turns out not to suit your dog, send it back inside 30 days and we will refund you.

What do I put in it?

Two thirds of a cup of clean water. If the paws are properly muddy you can add a little pet foot cleansing foam. Nothing thick and nothing oily, and no human shampoo.

Does it have more than one setting?

Yes. There are two speeds and the liner turns in both directions, so you can go gentle after a dry walk or faster when the paws are properly muddy. Start your dog on water only, one paw, and let them stand normally rather than lifting the leg high.

How do I clean it?

Tip the dirty water out, lift the silicone liner out and rinse it, then wipe the body. Do not put the whole cup under water. The liner and cup are both detachable, and the liner doubles as a grooming brush at bath time.

How long does a charge last?

It runs on a 2000 mAh rechargeable battery and charges fully in about two hours over USB-C. The manufacturer rates it at up to 10 days of normal use per charge, which will depend on how many paws and how often. The charging cable is included; a wall plug is not.

What if my dog is frightened of it?

That is the most common reason these end up in a cupboard, so take the first week slowly. Run it empty for a few seconds near your dog and let them walk away if they want. Then water only, gentle speed, one front paw, and stop after a few seconds even if nothing got clean. Let them stand normally rather than lifting the leg high. Most dogs settle after two or three short goes. If yours does not, email us inside 30 days and we will refund you.

Do I still need a towel?

Yes, and that is by design. The cup washes the paw and you dry it, so keep using the towel you already have by the door. What changes is where the dirt ends up. It goes into a cup of water you tip out, instead of being ground into the towel and then into your washing machine.

Will it splash water on my floor?

The water sits below the lip and the lid holds most of it in, but this is still a cup of dirty water and a dog who wants to keep moving. Use it outside the door or on a mat, fill to about two thirds and no higher, and keep one hand on the cup while the paw is in.

Why not just use a cheap manual paw cup?

A manual cup is a fair option and it costs under twenty dollars. You twist it by hand, which is fine on light dirt but takes both hands and a patient dog. This one turns the liner for you at two speeds and in both directions, so one hand stays free to hold the paw steady. If the mess at your door is light and occasional, the manual cup may genuinely be enough.
